    For the morning swim and the walk to the coffee shop. The Romper Kai ties at each shoulder, hangs loose through the body, and ends mid-thigh.

    The sides are cut low under the arm, so it wears over a bandeau or bikini top. Pockets are set into the side seams and at the back, and the straps are long enough to tie high or let out for a longer line. The bandeau shown is not included. Lehua blossoms and leaves fill the Mocha Lehua Blossom print from the straps to the hem.

    Learn About the Print
    ʻAhihi Lehua
    There are many varieties of ʻōhiʻa lehua, each shaped by the ʻāina and conditions in which it grows. When thinking of the recent rains of Hilo, I found myself drawn to one in particular—ʻAhihi Lehua (‘Ōhi’a Lehua Newellii).

    ʻAhihi Lehua makes its home often growing along stream banks, waterfalls, and the steep walls of rain-soaked gulches. Its brilliant and full pom pom like lehua blossoms emerge against a landscape shaped by water—beautiful, resilient, and intimately connected to place.

    This print is my interpretation of that relationship. Inspired by the many expressions of ʻōhiʻa lehua, ʻAhihi Lehua is an ode to Hilo rain, flowing streams, and a native beauty that has learned to flourish alongside them.

    A reminder that even after the heaviest rains, the lehua continues to bloom.
